Roofing Products

Choosing the right roof for your home does not have to be an overwhelming decision. However, with so many good roofing choices available today, cost alone will not determine quality. There are dozens of roofing products on the market today and Haider Construction will detail and explain the options available. Following here is a brief summary of the types of roofing products you may consider for your roof. Please complete our Free Roof Estimate form to receive a complimentary estimate from a Haider Roofing Expert.

Cedar Shake or Shingles

Cedar shakes have always been the premium roofing material for finer homes. As a result, homes roofed with cedar can command a premium price. Cedar products come as hand-sawn or split variations and in different thicknesses. While cedar is a durable and aesthetically very beautiful product, skilled installation and workmanship is required or the roof can fail in 5-8 years. Haider Construction has extensive experience in applying cedar roofs and we can detail for you the options available for wood treatment and maintenance to achieve the longest possible duration for your cedar roof.

Composition

Composition roofing products are an assortment of architectural and premium grade composition products in a wide variety of colors. Composition shingles are the most popular roofing product in the Pacific Northwest. With the advent of designer shingles, composition is no longer considered a low budget roof. It has evolved into hundreds of styles and colors to match any architecture or budget. Thicker, richer, and longer-lasting shingles mean more choices for the consumer. If the original roof layer is very flat and even, then new composition roofing can be added over one and in some cases two layers of existing roof. A recommendation to tear off the existing layers may be made if we believe the original roof will compromise the new materials.

Metal

Metal roof systems are increasingly popular with residential and corporate customers in part because of their improved quality, but also as an alternative to traditional flat roof materials. Metal roofs are also manufactured in a great spectrum of colors. These roofs provide a very modern architectural look with clean lines. Easily maintained, they are a popular choice for people who live in forested areas where debris from trees, moss, or heavy snowfall may require more roof care.

Flat Roof Systems

A flat roof is a roof with a low slope of less than 2/12 pitch. Typically, these roofs are covered with a hot tar or “torch-down” material. Ventilation and flashing details are important features in successful flat roofing systems.

Continuous Gutters and Downspouts

Proper drainage is essential in a reliable roof. We will evaluate your current gutters and downspouts and make recommendations for new ones if needed. Continuous aluminum gutters are the most reliable on the market today.

Ventilation

Haider Construction recommends a minimum of one square foot of venting for every 150 sq. ft. of ceiling space. Sufficient venting that is equally distributed will solve many of the ventilation needs we have in our wet, cool Northwestern climate.

Skylights

Many of our customers install skylights in their new roofs as a way to add light, venting, and value to their homes. We will be happy to discuss skylight options with you as part of your roofing project – an excellent way to take advantage of the labor costs already associated with installing a new roof.

Thanks for your prompt and professional completion of our roofing project.  All of your crew (Paul, Cipriano, Ramon) were a pleasure to work with and you should know they represent the Haider name very well!

We wanted to let all of you at Haider Construction know how proud we are of the roofing job on our house.  All of the neighbors love it and so do we! Ramon and Jorge showed great craftsmanship and the team worked to clean up the site each day.  Your salesperson, Paul, spent a good hour totally looking over the roof and what it needed before giving us a bid.   He also spent the time talking to us about all of our options and answer our many questions. Your operation is a well-oiled machine.

— Sincerely, Jeffery S.  Burien

Your company made this roofing project go so smoothly.  We are VERY happy with the job and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company to our friends.  Ramon and his crew were very conscientious, courteous and such hard workers.  Thank you for a job well done.
