Even with a smaller roofing project, there can be many factors to consider. These photos show some great detail of a roofing project we just completed for a client in West Seattle. This particular job involved two types of roofing methods (torch down and shingles) as well as requiring new sheeting and carpentry work to replace the rotted curbing around the skylights. You can see that new 1/2 inch CDX plywood was laid down over the old skip sheeting. When reviewing competing roof bids, make sure that you clarify what type of sheeting will be going down. Some roofing companies may choose a cheaper option with OSB sheeting – be advised that the CDX plywood is far superior. At Haider Construction, we always make sure that you understand the options on your roof bid, and will advise you on the best value in roofing materials.

This week we are finishing up a very substantial project in Redmond – the Essex Park Condominiums. This project had considerable challenges; it was multi storied and there were a number of carpentry repairs needed. Hiring a full-service roofing company like Haider Construction makes the difference for big projects like this one. We are both a remodeling and roofing contractor, and so have available the experienced carpentry crews needed for a job of this scale.Continue reading →

We recently completed this stunning remodel to a home in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle. The owners lived in a 1950’s bungalow for close to twenty years when they contracted us, looking for a remodel that would bring more space and a modern look.
Here is the house “before”:
The front entrance was moved to the side of the house, providing space for a large, private patio. The entire roofline was changed, adding 5 feet to the front of the house. A modern shed style roof gave the expansion space needed to install the full sized windows that make up the front of the house.
Take a look at the old kitchen:
The new kitchen, featuring beautiful wood custom cabinetry was enlarged and remodeled, opening to the spacious dining and living space where the couple entertains.
The owner’s interest in cooking is well accommodated with the new hood system, appliances, and ample storage and dining areas.
This space spills out to the patio, providing expansive views of the Seattle skyline and Puget Sound.

You know how the cobbler’s children never have new shoes? Well, a little bit the same is true of those of us in the construction industry – we sometimes wish there was more time to make improvements to our own home! However, this summer we saw a wonderful change in our living space with the addition of a new deck made with Azek decking materials. We even finished it in time to enjoy a 50th wedding anniversary of Maureen’s parents, and the weather was perfect!
If you would like to see other colors of Azek decking, along with other excellent brands of decking materials, you should stop by any of the Dunn Lumber showrooms where they have installations of decks that will help you when planning your next outdoor living room. Call us at 425 -771-3515 if you would like a complimentary bid on a new deck for your Northwest home .Continue reading →
